Chihuahua Love

“The purity of a person’s heart can be quickly measured by how they regard animals” ~ Anonymous

My Chihuahua Chloe turns 14 today – I can’t believe that Ive had fourteen years with her.  My relationship with her is the longest relationship i’ve ever had. She is the only thing that I religiously took care of and was responsible about in my entire life. This amazing creature loves me unconditionally and that’s not an easy thing to do.  She is the family I never had and always wanted.  I may have had a shitty family growing up but my family now is AMAZING.  This little dog has allowed me opportunities I would have never have had without her.  She has more charm and more charisma than anyone I know.   I am honored to be her doggie Mom.

“A dog is the only thing on earth that will love you more than you love yourself.” ~ Josh Billings

If you have never had the privilege of owning a pet I think you need to adopt one.  UNLESS your name is Michael Vick or Martellus Bennett, in that case PLEASE PLEASE refrain from being a pet owner.

Happy Birthday Chloe Diva Dog Extraordinaire, my precious baby love.

XOXO

Yo, Haters…I Did It

Posted on

September 30, Noon

Today is the day, the day I go to New York.  Currently I am sitting on the airplane waiting for the plane to take off. “Maintenance is replacing a part” before we are cleared for take off.  While I am waiting Ill recap the events of the day so far.

I made it to the airport with no time to spare but thats because I had to get in one last Chick-fil-A fix because there is no Chick-fil-A in NYC. (Thanks Ken) American Airlines listed the terminal and gate information incorrectly on their website so I checked my bags then Ken drove me to the correct terminal. I hug and kiss him good bye and run inside to hurry up and get through security so I have time to stock  up on some snacks before I get on the plane.

Of course my plans are changed when I actually get to security… They try to send me back to the ticket counter because I am one bag over the limit.  Oh hell no!  I have my purse, a carry on and Chloe in an airline approved dog carrier.  I paid $100 for her I am NOT paying to check another bag. I am allowed to continue on and when I present my boarding pass and photo ID I am told that “I have been personally selected by the airlines to go through secondary security screening”.

Grrrrrrrreaaaaaat!

Secondary Security Selection Criteria from Wikipedia

Neither the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) nor the airlines publish the criteria that are used when boarding passes are issued to identify passengers who will be given extra screening or be denied boarding.

Some criteria are:

  • Passengers with a one-way reservation.
  • Passengers who pay cash for their tickets.
  • Passengers who book reservations the day of their flight.
  • Passengers who “no show” a single leg of their flight.
  • Random selection, according to TSA spokeswoman Amy Von Walter in 2004, and as suggested by a 2003 DOI newsletter.
  • Flight to specific final destinations.
  • Flying without ID

So because I am sitting on the plane I guess its safe to say that this VIL (very important loser) made it through security.  [wipes sweat from forehead] I am upset that there was no time to stock up on snacks but I am happy to be sitting here on the plane that is still parked at the gate at DFW which will be heading to LGA any minute now.  This move is the hardest one yet. Raising the money to move is one of the craziest things I have ever done (and I have done a lot of crazy things).

A quick thank you to a friend who went above and beyond to make it possible for me to be sitting here. Thank you for staying up most of the night packing and moving all those boxes that weighed almost as much as I do. I am so thankful that you came back into my life and helped me when there was no one else.  Thank you for reminding me how to have fun.  Thank you for showing me that sometimes people do stand by you through the good times AND the bad.  Thank you for picking me up off the floor and not letting me quit.  Thank you for doing everything you could think of just to make me smile again.  Your kindness will never be forgotten.

We are about to take off.  I am exhausted so I am putting my hoodie on and getting some rest… I’m gonna need it.  In 3 short hours I will be landing in New York.

2 Hours and 45 Minutes Later…

We are about to land. I see the city through my tiny airplane window. I’m actually smiling. I’m here. I have nothing but my charm and a 2 lb chihuahua. If I can make the fundraiser work I can do anything.

So here begins the new chapter of my life…

Stay tuned…

Barking Beauty 2009 PART II

Posted on

Thursday, March 12th

5:31 PM Number of times I got called Mommy/Mami on the way to the subway… Three. I am no ones mother I don’t get why so many guys insist on calling me this. This is almost as confusing as the guy who shouted “That’s Propa” to me.

Propa from www.urbandictionary.com

The act of being propa while marinating the stylie way. A form of expression when one is relaying a feeling of contentment to another being or object.

Something is being done correctly. A task has been performed with the intended results.

Yo peace time marinatedness propa propa stylie. I am feeling propa today! Yo, that’s propa! Propa propa stylie. Or simply, propa propa!

6:00 PM Dinner at Dos Cominos with Edith. Lots of margaritas. Great food.

7:02 PM Number of un-fun corporate jack asses drinking margaritas at this restaurant… oh thousands.

8:00 PM Finally meet up with new boy (his name is, Best in No Show) that Ive been talking to almost every day since I met him (and I hate to talk on the phone) when I was here in NYC the last time.

9:16 PM I’m pleasantly surprised and unexpectedly smitten with Best in No Show Boy.

10:00+ PM First I talk on the phone with this guy and like it and now he has me at Starbucks drinking hot chocolate (he is drinking coffee). He is not annoying like I thought he would be. He hasn’t said anything stupid yet. I am looking at him and smiling. What the fuck is going on? This hasn’t happened since the LJB incident in the year 2000. I am really scared but its so nice. He is looking at me and smiling. I am lightly touching his hand with the my finger tips. His hands are nice. There is definitely a sweetness about him that I really like.

Friday, March 13th

12:00 AM (Me to Best In No Show) “I don’t even know what to say to you but thank you for a lovely, strange, fun evening”

12:37 AM (Best in No Show to Me) “I just got home and agree to fun/strange evening. Coming soon fun strange evening Part II”

12:00 AM (Me to Best In No Show) “I STILL feel light headed. Good Night”

12:53 AM (Best in No Show to Me) “Good Night, I feel a bit electric myself”

1:00 AM (Me to Best In No Show) “Thats not how I thought our first offical in person meeting would go… I’ll definitely have sweet dreams about you tonight”

1:07 AM (Best in No Show to Me) “Sweet Dreams”

3:19 PM (Best in No Show to Me) “I’m going to think of you in the shower while I touch me”

7:05 PM (Best in No Show to Me) “Life is hard, Carla”

7:09 PM (Best in No Show to Me) “Tee hee. Thank you. And, yes, I know what YOU need. Tee hee he hee hee”

Saturday, March 14th

12:00 PM Chihuahua Meet-up St Patricks Day Pawty at Happy Paws took Chloe and Sallie Sue

2:00 PM Meet up with Leslie to pick up package of Dog treats for Philly Pageant tomorrow the Adorable Nadine

3:14 PM Drop off dogs (Chloe and SallieSue) so they can pass out after their fun St Patricks Day Party

3:34 PM Yummy lunch with Leslie in Spanish Harlem… Chicken, red beans and rice and of course wine. Leslie and I are laughing at how it took both of us at least 30 min to read the menu and figure out what we want (our birthday is September 27)

4:09 PM (Me to Best in No Show) “When is YOUR birthday”

4:13 PM (Best in No Show to Me) “My birthday is on your favorite holiday of the year”

4:20 PM (Me to Best in No Show) “Stop trying to get on my good side-even more. Damn you. Now I like you just a little bit more. You &%#$@*) ^%#@ %^.

4:22 PM (Best in No Show to Me) “I knew you would love that”

4:27 PM (Best in No Show to Me) “You’re a &%$#@! yourself”

4:30 PM (Me to Best in No Show) “Thank you (takes bow). Now admit I am the most adorable girl you have ever met.

5:32 PM I realize I have lost my brand new camera. I’m so pissed. I hope I have misplaced it but don’t have time to look right now.

6:30 PM Murdered by the Mob mystery dinner at Arno Restaurant to watch Leslie perform

10:30 PM I was asked to dance by Rocco one of the characters in the show… this hasnt happened in years… I am the most uncoordinated horrible dancer on this planet (or at least on this dance floor)

11:00 PM Drinks with Pet Rox (Jeff, Jackie) and Leslie after show. I predict a hangover on Sunday

Barking Beauty 2009 PART I

Tuesday, March 10

8:30 AM Wake up the earliest I have in months to ensure that I have enough time to get everything taken care of before leaving to NYC for Barking Beauty 2009.

11:00 AM Bangs trimmed

12:00 PM Pick up Dry Cleaning and Alterations

1:00 PM Start Packing

2:00 PM Take break to babysit and attend a birthday party to celebrate Barbie’s 50th Birthday party

5:30 PM Dinner Break

6:00 PM Manicure & Pedicure

8:00 PM Packing, packing, procrastinate, complain, drink wine, pack, hang out with Jeremiah, walk in circles, more packing

Wednesday, March 11th

(take note sleeping was not an option)

4:00 AM Done with packing – FINALLY

5:30 AM Head to airport in horrible rain storm the kind with the sideways rain and fog so you can’t see the road and almost arrive too late to check bags.

6:15 AM Tip curbside check in guy $20 so he would check bags and not check weight of bags. Pay $44 to check two bags

6:25 AM Go to ticket counter to pay $100 for Chloe to fly in cabin

6:40 AM Go through security: take off shoes, take laptop out of bag, take dog out of carrier, take off sweater, remove jewelry & do best not to trip or drop something

7:00 AM Board plane that is currently delayed and wait to head to Charlotte, NC

7:30 AM Big fat white corporate jack ass guy smashes my head into the side of the seat while I’m leaning down trying to put some water in Chloe’s carrier for her

7:31AM My head is throbbing he hit me full force with his huge khaki covered ass

7:32AM Despite my yelping he does not apologize nor acknowledges that he violated my personal space with his body which weighs at least three times more than mine does – I bet you a million dollars he owns Dr Phil’s “diet” book

11:00 AM Change planes in Charlotte and head for NYC

3:00 PM Arrive at Leslie & SallieSue’s. Greeted by building management who not only has key in hand but carry all luggage inside building for me – HOORAY – this is the kind of service I like

Now its time for dinner and a nice nap and maybe a shower…some wine… a margarita… TO BE CONTINUED
