Barking Beauty 2009 PART I

Posted on

Tuesday, March 10

8:30 AM Wake up the earliest I have in months to ensure that I have enough time to get everything taken care of before leaving to NYC for Barking Beauty 2009.

11:00 AM Bangs trimmed

12:00 PM Pick up Dry Cleaning and Alterations

1:00 PM Start Packing

2:00 PM Take break to babysit and attend a birthday party to celebrate Barbie’s 50th Birthday party

5:30 PM Dinner Break

6:00 PM Manicure & Pedicure

8:00 PM Packing, packing, procrastinate, complain, drink wine, pack, hang out with Jeremiah, walk in circles, more packing

Wednesday, March 11th

(take note sleeping was not an option)

4:00 AM Done with packing – FINALLY

5:30 AM Head to airport in horrible rain storm the kind with the sideways rain and fog so you can’t see the road and almost arrive too late to check bags.

6:15 AM Tip curbside check in guy $20 so he would check bags and not check weight of bags. Pay $44 to check two bags

6:25 AM Go to ticket counter to pay $100 for Chloe to fly in cabin

6:40 AM Go through security: take off shoes, take laptop out of bag, take dog out of carrier, take off sweater, remove jewelry & do best not to trip or drop something

7:00 AM Board plane that is currently delayed and wait to head to Charlotte, NC

7:30 AM Big fat white corporate jack ass guy smashes my head into the side of the seat while I’m leaning down trying to put some water in Chloe’s carrier for her

7:31AM My head is throbbing he hit me full force with his huge khaki covered ass

7:32AM Despite my yelping he does not apologize nor acknowledges that he violated my personal space with his body which weighs at least three times more than mine does – I bet you a million dollars he owns Dr Phil’s “diet” book

11:00 AM Change planes in Charlotte and head for NYC

3:00 PM Arrive at Leslie & SallieSue’s. Greeted by building management who not only has key in hand but carry all luggage inside building for me – HOORAY – this is the kind of service I like

Now its time for dinner and a nice nap and maybe a shower…some wine… a margarita… TO BE CONTINUED

Why I’m a Pain in the Ass – Part I

Posted on

Seems as though I have a track record of having really bad timing… my website went down www.corporateamericaruinedfashion.com. My cousin Rob is the one who set it up for me but he is in the middle of moving. Me being the pain in the ass that I usually (well, always) am needs to have the website fixed before I leave for NYC for The Barking Beauty Pageant.

Being that my Cousin grew up with me he KNOWS how annoying I can be… he avoided me at first… he politely told me he was busy… I kept going…

Here is a video that proves how much he loves me so…

Thank you US Airways for the cheap flight that is really just an illusion…

Thank you US Airways for your great fare sale that allowed me to score a round trip ticket from DFW to LGA for $45 each way… this is extraordinary.

Its just an illusion though.

When I called US Airways to confirm I was traveling with Chloe, my THREE pound dog I was informed that it is now $100 each way for her to fly as my carry on.  I was told that I could not just purchase another ticket at the great price I got mine for so then she could even have her own seat and I would save money.  “This is not proper procedure.”

Now I have to pay $100 for Chloe to fly and because she is considered my carry on I have to check two bags. First bag $15, second $25.

Round trip flight DFW to LGA      $91.16

Round trip fee for traveling w/ pet      $200.00

Round trip fees for luggage        $80.00

Does anyone else find this utterly ridiculous?

Save A Dog or Save A Kid – Two Great Organizations To Spend Extra Cash On

Posted on

I realize the economy is horrible and money is tight. I many people have lost their jobs – I am one of them so I understand not having extra cash to donate to very worthy causes.  However, if you are one of those who is fortunate to have some extra cash floating around here are two very excellent ways to spend that cash.

SAVE A DOG

I volunteer as a foster for Waggytail Rescue, a dog rescue group based in New York City and when I am away from NYC I do as much as I can to support this amazing group of people. This year, we’re selling holiday cards. The cards are an assortment of photos of our very own rescue dogs.  All proceeds go to help save the lives of dogs just like them.

Cards are $15 for a box of 10, with envelopes. If you’d like them shipped, it’s $4.95 extra (priority mail). So, this holiday season, spread good cheer and help save a homeless dog’s life! For more information, and to place your order check out our website at www.waggytailrescue.org. Please feel free to pass this email along to family and friends.

Save A Kid

This information came directly from an email sent to me from my former boss who is an amazing person who has a daughter that suffers Juvenile Dermatomyositis/ Juvenile Polymyositis. They are looking to meet their fundraising goal. My former boss, Kevin also writes a blog that you need to check out…

http://blogonkevin.blogspot.com/

From the McKeever Family: With two months to race time, Rhonda and I have raised nearly $14,000 for Cure JM Foundation. That’s more than 55% of our family’s goal!

Thanks to all who have donated already. You are helping us find a cure for juvenile myositis, the potentially debilitating auto immune disease that our daughter, Megan, has lived with for more than six years now.

Money we’ve raised in previous years has helped us establish research programs with the National Institutes of Health, Children’s Memorial Research Center in Chicago and The George Washington University in Washington, D.C. The money we raise this time will help us continue to fund these vital programs.

If you haven’t donated yet, please consider helping us now. We understand that times are tight, but even a small donation of $10 or $20 is helpful.

You can donate online at http://www.firstgiving.com/kmckeever or, if you want to donate by check, fill out the attached form and mail it to the address listed on the form. If your company makes matching donations, don’t forget to send in the necessary forms.

The Today Show is looking for America’s Favorite Dog

Get your video cameras out because the Today Show is looking for America’s Favorite Dog.

Register online or by mail before November 6th and your dog could be one of 12 semi-finalists who will get to come to NY and share their talent or story live on the Today Show plaza. Viewers will vote for their favorite dog, ultimately narrowing the pool down to a final three.

In December, the three finalists will come back to the plaza, have a photo shoot in the December 3rd issue of US Weekly magazine and one victorious dog will become “TODAY’s Best In Show” and receive a grand prize package.
